5 Best Indian Short Films which are damn impactful and refreshing
Short films, a category that was always popular for producing off beat reels on topics that were left untouched by commercial cinema, continues to do so.
Amidst all the noise that massy commercial movies and shows, even on OTT platforms create, it becomes quite easy for short films to just disappear.
However, even though this year has been quite rough, we have been blessed with some brilliant Hindi short films of 2020 on Youtube.
1. Devi
With 8.3 IMDb rating, this one is arguably the most famous name on this list. Devi boasts of a stellar ensemble cast that includes Kajol, Neha Dhupia and Shruti Haasan among others in pivotal roles. The film revolves around the story of nine women from distinct stratas of society forced into a sisterhood due to circumstances in which they are compelled to share their stories of abuse.
2. Ghar Ki Murgi
Helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, it is an ode women homemakers. The film features prominent actor Sakshi Tanwar in the lead role and looks at the lives of these homemakers and throws some light on just how important they are. It focuses on a home-maker, Seema’s (Sakshi Tanwar) thankless plight as she goes about her daily routine fulfilling all the innumerable wishes and demands put forward by her family.
A touching family story, Mishti Doi revolves around a widower and all the arrangements he makes to welcome his son and daughter-in-law who are visiting him. This visit not only tests their bond as a family but also sends out a strong message to the audience. Go watch it, if you haven’t watched it yet.
Nawab has already crossed 1.1 million views on YouTube and is arguably the best example of Aparshakti Khurrana's phenomenal acting prowess. This 9 minute short film is about embracing the love of a dog. It’s a must-watch for those of you who haven’t watched it yet.
4. Holi Ka Dahan
The much-talked about short film revolves around the festival of colours, as the name suggests. Anuritta Jha, who plays the lead in Holi Ka Dahan, breaks off her toxic relationship and in a way colours herself in happy shades. Go, watch it this weekend!
